Indication:

Prepubertal cryptochidism in males

Adverse Reaction:

Headache, irritability, restlessness, depression, Fatigue, oedema, percocious puberty, Gynaecomastia, pain at injection site, Aggressive behaviour, ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome, Ovarian malignancy, enlargement of ovarian cysts, and possible rupture, and arterial thrombo-embolism.

Contra-Indications:

Precocious puberty, prostatic carcinoma or other androgen-dependent neoplasm, prior allergic reaction to chorionic gonadotropin, pregnancy & lactation

Special precautions:

Precocious puberty- Induction of androgen secretion by HCG may induce phatalic enlargement.

Fluid retension-

use with caution in patients with epilepsy, migraine, asthma, cardiac or renal disease.

Dosages/ Overdosage Etc:

Indications:

Prepubertal cryptorchidism in males, hypogonadism, ovulation induction.

Dosage:

Prepubertal cryptorchidism in males, adult - 500 - 4000iu injected 3 times weekly treatment should continue for 1- 2 mth after testicular desent Male infertility due to hypogondotrophic hypogonadism 500 - 4000iu injected 2-3 times weekly

Patient Information:

Chorionic Gonadotropin - systemic

1.Allergies-

Tell your doctor if you are have ever had any unusual or allergic reaction to

chorionic gonadotropin. Also tell your healthcare care professional if you are

allergic to any other substances such as foods. preservatives or dyes.

2.Pregnancy-

If you become pregnant as a result of using this medicine with menotropins

(eg Pergonal) or urofollitropin ( eg Metrodin) there is an increased chance

of a multiple pregnancy (eg twins, triplets)

3.Children-

Chorionic gonadotropin when used for treatment cryptorchidism ( a birth defect

where the testes remain inside the body) has caused the sexual organs of

some male children to develop too rapidly.

4. Other medicines-

Although certain medicines should not be used together at all, in other cases two

different medicines may be used together even if an interaction might occur.

In such cases your doctor may want to change the dose, or other precautions

may be necessary.

Tell your doctor if you are using any other prescription or non-prescription

(Over-the counter) OTC medicine.

5. Other medical problems-

The presence of other medical problems may affect the use of chorionic

gonadotropin . Make sure you tell your doctor if you have any other medical

problems especially-

Cancer of the prostrate - increases in the amount of testosterone in the

bloodstream may make this condition worse.

Cyst on overy or

Fibroid tumors of the uterus- chorionic gonadotropin can cause the pitutiary

gland or a pitutiary tumor to increase in size

Unusual vaginal bleeding - irregular vaginal bleeding is a sign that the

endometrium is growing too much, of endomterial cancer, or other hormone

imbalances, the increase in estrogen production caused by ovalution can

agravate these problems of the endometrium. It other hormone imbalances

are present they should be treated before beginning ovulation induction.

Pregnancy and lactation:

Observe caution.

Contraindicated for use during pregnancy and lactation.
