Drug Interaction:
Live or thyphoid vaccine should not be given 3 days before or 3 days after amoxicilin admin as immune respoonse may be attentuated
Amoxycillin increase the anticogulant response to coumarins.
Amoxycillin may reduce OC pill absorption leading to breakthrough bleeding or pregnancy
Amoxycilin reduces the renal clearance of methotrexate and premetrexate,
Amoxycillin level significantly redced when given with or 2 hours after acacia admin.
Indication:
Respiratory tract infections associated with excessive viscous mucus
Adverse Reaction:
Headache, nausea,
Dizziness, vomiting,
Diarrhea, black hairy tongue
Macropapular rash , urticaria,eosinophillia
Haemolytic anemia, Thrombocytopenia,
Anaphylaxis Psuedumembranoeous colits,
Acute cytolytic hepatitis and Stevens Jonnson syndrome
Contra-Indications:
Allergy to penicillin,infections mononucleoses,pregnancy.
Special precautions:
History of peptic ulcer,severe renal impairment.
