Drug Interaction:
Tetracyclines include Tetracycline, Democlocycline, Doxycycline, Methacycline, Minocycline, Oxytetracycline Refer- Tetracycline
Antacids,milk,calcium,magnesium and iron preparations reduce absorption. Diuresis induced by amiloride and metazolone may be enhanced.
Indication:
Infections caused by gram+ve and gram -ve organisns.

Adverse Reaction:
Anaphylaxis very rare. Permanent staining of teeth, Nausea, rash, GI upsets, dysphagia, Entercolitis, anogenital inflammation (monoiliasis).
Hypersenstivity, Haemolytic anaemia, thrombocytopenia, Neutropenia and eosinophillia. Raised blood urea, Liver enzyme and eosinophillia. May interfere with urobilinogen estimation.
Contra-Indications:
Hypersensitivity,pregnancy.
Special precautions: Children below 12 years, renal/hepatic disease, lactation.

Usual oral maintenance dose - 150mg 6 hourly or 300mg 12 hourly.
