Adverse Reaction:
Nausea, vomiting, abdominal discomfort, diarrhoea, drowsiness, dizziness, headache. Light headedness, pruritus.
Contra-Indications:
Use in T.solium infestations may expose the patients to the risk of cysticerosis since following digestion of dead segments,viable ova will be liberated into lumen of the gut. Adequate purge manadatory within 2 hours of the drug to clear the bowels of all dead segments before they can be digested. Special precautions: Pregnancy, avoid alcohol.

Adults- 4 tablets (2g) as a single dose.
Children- 11 to 34kg- 2 tablets(1g) on the first day.

1.Allergies-
Tell your doctor if you have ever had any unusual or allergic reaction to
niclosamide. Also tell your healthcare care professional if you are allergic
to any other substances such as foods. preservatives or dyes.
2.Pregnancy-
Nicosamide has not been done in pregnant women. However, it has not been
shown to cause birth defects or other problems in animal studies.
3. Breast-feeding-
It is known whether niclosamide passes into breast milk. Although most medicines
pass into breast milk in small amounts,many of them may be used safely while
breast-feeding. Mothers who are taking this medicine and who wish to breast
feed should discuss this with their doctor.
4.Children-
This medicine has been tested in a limited number of children up to age of
2 years of age or older. and in effective doses the medicine has not been
shown to cause different side effects or problems than it does in adults.
5.Older adults-
There is no specific information comparing use of nicolsamide in the elderly
with use in other age groups
6. Other medicines-
Tell your doctor if you are using any other prescription or
non-prescription (Over-the counter) OTC medicine.

Pharmacology:
Niclosamide inhibits oxidative phosphorylation in the mitochondria of castodes. The scolex and proximal segments are killed on contact with the drug.
Interaction with Food:
None reported. Sour fruit juices may dislodge intestinal mucous and promote contact between drug and tapeworm.

Safety for use during pregnancy has not been established. Use only when needed.
Lactation:
Safety for use in the nursing mother has not been established.

Safety and efficacy for use in children below 2 years old are not established
