Indication:
Classical hemophilia A
Adverse Reaction:
Headache, somnolence , lethargy, acute hemolytic anemia, increased bleedng tendency hyperfibrinogenmia ( rare ) flushing, diarrhea, fatigue Allergic reactions- hives, fever, urticaria, mild chills, nausea, stinging at infusion site
Contra-Indications:
Hypersensitivity to mouse, hamster or bovine protein Warning- von Willebrands disease - not effective in controlling the bleeding of patients with von Willebrands disease Pregnancy- Safety for use during pregnancy has not been established. use only if clearly needed. Children- AHF (antihemophilic factor ) is safe and effective for use in vhildren of all ages, including neonates
Dosages/ Overdosage Etc:
Classical hemophilia A Administer IV only Use a plastic syringe , solutions may stick to the surface of glass Dosage depends on patient weight , severity of deficiency , severity of haemorrhage, presence of inhibitors and factor VIII level desired
