Drug Interaction:
Drug/Food interactions- Incompatibility of dairy foods with systemic fluoride has occured due to formation of calcium fluoride, which is poorly absorbed
Adverse Reaction:
Eczema, atopic dermatitis, urticaria, allergic rash. Gastric distress, headache, weakness. Rinses and gel containing stannous fluoride may produce surface staining of the teeth.
Contra-Indications:
When the fluoride content of drinking water exceeds 0.7ppm, low sodium or sodium free diets, hypersens to fluoride Special precautions: Fractures. Mucositis, tartrazine sensitivity

Pharmacology:
Sodium fluoride acts systematically before tooth eruption and topically posteruption by increasing tooth resistence to acid dissolution, by promoting remineralisation and by inhibiting the cariogenic microbial process.
Pharmacokinetics:
Fluoride is absorbed in the GItract, lungs and skin. About 90% of the oral fluoride is absorbed in the stomach. Following ingestion, 50% of the fluoride is deposited in bone and teeth. Major route of excrtetion is the kidneys.
