Drug Interaction:
Analbolic steroids include- Oxymetholone, Stanazolol, Oxandrolone, Nandrolone phenpropionate, Nandrolone deconate, Refer - Nandrolone
Potentiates oral anticoagulants and corticosteroids. Interferes with diabetic control.
Indication:
Heridity angioedema
Adverse Reaction:
Liver tumors. Pelliosis, hepatitis, premature epiphyseal closure, cholestatic jaundice, virilisation, impotence, priapism, testicular atrophy, gynaecomastia, prostatic hypertrophy, changes in libido, virsutism, menstrual irregularities, odema, acne, increased prothrombin time, glucose intolerance, hypercholesterolmia.
Contra-Indications:
Pregnancy,carcinoma of prostrate,severe liver disease. Hepato-renal or cardiac disease.
Special precautions:
Pre-pubertal children (it may lead to stunning of growth). Use lower dosage in young females to minimise androgenic side effects.
Dosages/ Overdosage Etc:
Indications:: Heridity angioedema
Dosage: Individualise dosage. Initial - 2 mg 3 times a day. Maintenance dose- 2mg/day.
