1.Allergies-
Tell your doctor if you are have ever had any unusual or allergic reaction to
estramustine, estrogens or mechlorethamine.
2.Pregnancy-
There is a chance that this medicine may cause birth defects if the male is taking it
at the time of conception. It may cause permanent sterility after it has been taken for
a while.Make sure you discuss this with your doctor.
3.Older adults-
Many medicines have not been studied specifically in older people. Therefore,
it may not be known whether they work exactly the same way they do in
younger adults, or if they cause different side effects or problems in older people.
There is no specific information comparing use of estramustine in the elderly with use
in other age groups
4. Other medicines-
Although certain medicines should not be used together at all, in other cases two
different medicines may be used together even if an interaction might occur.
In such cases your doctor may want to change the dose, or other precautions
may be necessary.
Tell your doctor if you are taking any of the following-
Acetoaminophen
Anabolic steroids
Androgens( male hormones)
Anti-infectives by mouth
Carmustine
Choloroquine
Dantrolene
Disulfiram
Estrogens(female hormones)
5. Other medical problems-
The presence of other medical problems may affect the use of estramustine.
Make sure you tell your doctor if you have any other medical problems
especially-
Asthma
Epilepsy
Mental depression
Migraine headaches
Blood clots
Stroke history of
Chickenpox
Jaundice
6.Smoking- because smoking causes narrowing of blood vessels, it can increase risk
of circulation problems and can lead to heart attack.
