Pregnancy and lactation
Potentiates CNS effect of alcohol.
Blocks antihypertensive effect of guanethedine.
Inhibits metabolism of tricyclic antidepresants and vice-versa.
Reduced efficacy of levodopa.
Increases adverse extrapyrimidal symptoms with dopamine antagonist (metoclopamide and prochlorperazine).
Neuroleptic malignant syndrome, Hyperthermia,hypertoxicity of skeletal muscles,
Unconsciousness and ANS instability, Rigidity,tremors,reslessness,
Tardive,dryskinesia, insomnia, Dryness of mouth, weight gain,
Sexual dysfunction, breast engorgement,
Galactorrhoea and Menstrual disturbances.
Extremely excitable & overactive patients.
Acute alcohol, barbiturate & oolate poisioning.
Pregnancy,lactation, Coma, Parkinson,s disease.
Monitor patients on long term therapy carefully.
Caution in patients with convulsive disorders or advanced hepatic,renal or cardiovascular disease. Do not operate machinery or drive vehicles.
Neuroleptics with sedative effect,if any being used by the patient,should be withdrawn gradually.
Dosages/ Overdosage Etc:
Intially 1mg (elderly 0.5mg ) in the morning, increased after 1 week to 2mg ( elderly 1mg) to be divided in 2 portions , second dose not after 4pm
Discontinue if no response after 1 week at maximum dosage.
Not recommended for children

Reports not available.
Pregnancy and lactation:
Studies have not done on pregnant women. Animal studies have reported some adverse effects on fetus.
Not known whether Flupenthixol pass into breast milk, although similar medicines do pass into breast milk and cause drowsiness and increase risk of other problems to the nursing baby.
