Contra-Indications:
Pregnancy, Ovarian cysts or enlargement not due to ploycystic syndrome Primary ovarian failure Organic intracranial lesion eg pituitary tumor Uncontrolled thyroid & adrenal dysfunction Presence of any cause of infertility other than anovulation Abnormal bleding of undetremined origin
Special precautions:
May result in multiple pregnancies Abnormal genital bleeding Hormone sensitive malignancies Ovarian cysts not caused by polycystic ovarian syndrome Exclude & treat other causes of fertility eg pitutiary or hypothalamic lesions Adrenal or thyroid disorders & hyperprolactinemia

Indications:
Induction of ovulation in patients with polycystic ovarian syndrome
Dosage:
Initial dose - 75 IU/day IM urofollitropin, for 7 to 10 days followed by 5000 to 10000 units of HCG, one day after urofollitropin dose.
Patient Information:
1. Prior to therapy, inform patients of the following; duration of treatment, and monitoring
required.
2. Inform patients of the possible adverse reactions, risks of multiple births.

UROFOLLITRIPTOPIN - SYSTEMIC
1.Allergies-
Tell your doctor if you have ever had any unusual or allergic reaction to
urofollitropin. Also tell your healthcare care professional if you are allergic
to any other substances such as foods. preservatives or dyes.
2.Pregnancy-
If you become pregnant as a result of using this medicine, there is an increased
chance of a multiple pregnancy
3. Other medicines-
Tell your doctor if you are using any other prescription or non-prescription
(Over-the counter) OTC medicine.
4. Other medical problems-
The presence of other medical problems may affect the use of urofollitropin..
Make sure you tell your doctor if you have any other medical problems
especially-
Cyst on ovary - urofollitropin can cause growth of cysts on the ovary
Unusual vaginal bleeding- some irregular vaginal bleeding is a sign
that the endometrium is growing too rapidly, possibly of endometrial
cancer, or some hormone imbalances, increase in estrogen production
caused by urofollitropin can make the problem worse. If a hormonal
imbalance is present it should b treated before the beginning of
menotropin therapy
