Ethinyl oestrdiol, norethindione, norgestrel, desogestrel, levonorgesrtrel, medoxyprogesterone, progesterone

Interacting drugs - summary
Aminoglutethimide + Medoxyprogesterone
aminoglutethimide increase the hepatic metabolism of
medoxyprogesterone, decreasing its therapeutic effects
Rifampicin + Norethindrone
rifamipicin reduce the plasma levels of norethindrone
via hepatic microsomal enzyme induction,
decreasing its pharmacologic effects
Indication:
Adjunct therapy for recurrent and metastatic endometrial carcinoma or renal carcinoma
Ethinyl oestrdiol, norethindione, norgestrel, desogestrel, levonorgesrtrel, medoxyprogesterone, progesterone
Adverse Reaction:
Anaphylactic and anaphylactoid reactions, thrombophlebitis (in high doses).
Fatigue, insomnia, dizziness, headache, urticaria, atopecia, nausea, breast tenderness,
galactorrhoea, decrease in glucose tolerance.
I/M-pain at site of injection and gluteal abscess.
Contra-Indications:
Hypersens,undiagnosed uterine bleeding,hematuria,pregnancy.
Special precautions:
Severe liver dysfunction, phebitis, hypertension, diabetes.
Dosages/ Overdosage Etc:
Indications:
Adjunct therapy for recurrent and metastatic endometrial carcinoma or renal carcinoma
Dosage:
For IM administration only
Endometrial or renal carcinoma - 400 to 1000mg/week. May be possible to maintain
improvement with as little as 400mg/mth.
Pregnancy and lactation:
Contraindicated for use during pregnancy
