Indications:
Management of anxiety disorders or short term relief of anxiety.
For symptomatic relief of acute alcohol withdrawal. Adjunct therapy in the management of partial seizure
Dosage:
Symptomatic relief of anxiety- 30mg/day in divided doses.
Adjust gradually within the range of 15 to 60mg/day.
Elderly/debilated patients- initiate reatment at a dose of 7.5 to 15mg/day. Lower doses may be indicated.
Symptomatic relief of acute alcohol withdrawal-
Day 1- 30mg initially;followed by 30 to 60mg in divided doses.
Day 2- 45 to 90mg in divided doses.
Day 3- 22.5mg to 45mg in divided doses.
Day 4- 15 to 30mg in divided doses.
Therafter reduce the dose to 7.5mg to 15mg daily.
Discontinue drug as soon as the patients condition is stable.
Maximum recommened total daily dose is 90mg.
Avoid excessive reduction in the total amount of the drug administered in successive days.
