Dosage:
Initial dose is 20 to 40mg. Each subsequent dose administered at 48 or 72 hours intervals, may be adjusted in increments of 5 to 10mg until steady state is reached, usually within 1 or 2 weeks

1.Allergies-
Tell your doctor if you have ever had any unusual or allergic reaction to
Levomethadyl. Also tell your healthcare care professional if you are allergic to
any other substances such as foods. preservatives or dyes.
2.Pregnancy-
Methadone is the best medicine for treating pregnant narcotic addicts.
Although there may be rare exceptions levomethadyl is not recommended
for use in pregnant women
3. Breast-feeding-
Breast feeding mothers who wish to use levomethadyl should discuss this
with their doctor.
4.Children-
In U.S. the law does not allow levomethadyl to be used for treating addicts
younger than 18 years of age.
5.Older adults-
There is no specific information comparing use of levomethadyl in the elderly
with use in other age groups
6. Other medicines-
Tell your doctor if you are using any of the following -
Alcohol or
Barbiturtates or
Carbamazepine or
Cimetidine
Dlitiazem or
Erythromycin
Griseofluvin or
Isoniazid or
Pheytoin or
Quinine or
Ranitidine or
Verapramil - these medicines may change the way levomethadyl works
in your body, some may start working slowly or work quickly.
7. Other medical problems-
The presence of other medical problems may affect the use of levomethadyl..
Make sure you tell your doctor if you have any other medical problems
especially-
Asthma or lung diseases
Brain diseases or
Colitis or
Crohns disease or
Enlarged prostrate
Gall bladder or
Heart disease or
High blood pressure
Kidney disease or
Liver disease or
Underactive thyroid- the chance of side effects may be increased
