For adult patients prone to intra-abdominal bacterial infection & antibiotic associated diarrhea
Adverse Reaction:
Anaphylaxis,liver damage. Permanent staining of teeth, nausea, rash, superinfection. G.I. upsets, glossitis, dysphagia, photosensisitivity. Hypersensitivity, haemolytic anaemia, thrombocytopenia, neutropenia and eosinophillia. Raised blood urea, liver enzymes and bilirubin.
Contra-Indications:
Pregnancy. Hypersensitivity to tetracyclines. Concurrent administration of antacids or Ca,Mg, Fe salts.
Special precautions:
Impaired hepatic function, blood dyscrasias. regular blood counts on long term therapy.children below 12 years.SLE
