Adverse Reaction:
GI discomfort, nausea and vomiting, hyperuricaemia.
Contra-Indications:
Hypersensitivity go guaiphenesin
Warnings-
Not for persistent cough as occurs with smoking , asthma or emphysema or where cough is accompanied by excessive secretions
Special precautions:
Persist cough may indicate serious conditions. If cough persiste more than 1 week , tend to recur or accompanied bynhigh fever, rash or persistent headache, consult physician. Excessive dosage may cause nausea and vomiting
Dosages/ Overdosage Etc:
Indication-
Symptomatic relief of non-productive cough
Dosage
Adults and children > 12 yrs- 100- 400mg every 4 hrs.
Do not exceed 2.4g /day
Children 6-12 yrs - 100-200mg every 4 hours . Do not exceed 1.2g/day
Children 2-6 yrs - 50 -100mg every 4hours . do nott exceed 600mg/day

1.Allergies-
Tell your doctor if you have ever had any unusual or allergic reaction to
Guaifenesin. Also tell your healthcare care professional if you are allergic
to any other substances such as foods. preservatives or dyes.
2.Pregnancy-
Studies have been done in several groups of women taking guaiphenesin
during pregnancy. Birth defects can occur in women taking guaiphensin during
pregnancy. You must discuss this with your doctor.
3. Breast-feeding-
Guiaphesin has not been reported to cause problems in nursing mothers.
4.Children-
Guaiphenesin should not be given to children younger than 2 years of age
unless you have discussed this with your doctor.
5.Older adults-
This medicine is not expected to cause different side effects or problems in
older people than in younger adults.

Pharmacology:
Guaiaphenesin is claimed to enhance the output of respiratory tract fluid by reducing adheiveness and surface tension facilitating the removal of viscous muscus, as a result nonproductive coughs become more productive and less frequent.
