For the treatment of Bacterial infections caused by
susceptible organisms in pediatric patients
(age > 3mths) subject to all other conditions stipulated
in initial permission of the drug remaining the same
Bacterial septicemia
Penicillins include- Natural- Penicillin G, Penicillin V Penicillase -Resistent- Cloxacillin, Docloxacillin, Methicillin, Nafacillin, Oxacillin Aminopenicillins- Amoxicillin, Amoxicillin/Potassium Clavulanate, Ampicillin, Ampicillin/Sulbactum, Becampicillin Extended spectrum- Carbenicilin, Mezlocillin, Piperacillin.Tazobactam sodium, Ticarcillin, Ticarcillin/Potassium clavulanate Refer Penicillin V Potassium
Dosages/ Overdosage Etc:
Indications: Bacterial septicemia
Dosage: Use IV therapy in higher doses Adults- 200 to 300mg/kg/day by IV infusion in divided doses every 3, 4 or 6 hours (3g every 3, 4 or 6 hours) depending on weight of patient and severity of infection.
Children less than 40kg- 200 to 300mg/kg/day by IV infusion in divided doses every 4 to 6 hours
