For the treatment of Lower respiratory tract infection caused by
Gram negative bacteria in adults only
Adverse Reaction:
Rash, pruritus, Haematogical reactions, Reversible thrombocytopenia Abdominal pain G.I. upset, diarrhoea Candidiasis, pseudomembranous colitis Hepatic enzymes levels increases Headache, apnoea, Constipation, Clostridium difficile associated diarrhoea CDAD Seizures Positive Coombs tes Haemolytic anemia
Contra-Indications:
Peniciilin, cephalosporin or other beta-lactum allergy
Special precautions
Hepatic or renal impairment History of colitis
Pregnancy Lactation Hisory of seizures CNS disorders Monitor renal. hepatic and haematopoitic functions in long term use
Monitor valproic acid conc. when used concomittantly
Dosages/ Overdosage Etc:
Intra-abdominal , gynaecological, skin and soft tissue infections Chronic lower respiratory infections
Dosage-
500mg -1g every 8 hours children below 3 months - not recommended 3- 12 years - 10-20mg/kg every 8 hours
Administer by i.v. bolus injction over 5 minutes or i.v. infusion over 15 - 30 minutes
Pregnancy and lactation:
Use contraindicated during pregnancy and lactation Observe caution
