Indication-
Active immunisation against cholera
Dosage-
Administer intradermally , Sc, or IM Intracutaneous ( intradermal ) route is satisfactory for persons > 5yrs of age, but higher antibody may be acheived in children < 5 years old by the SC and IM routes
Primary immunisation doses consist of 2 doses, 1 week to 1 month or more apart

Cholera vaccine - systemic
1.The travelers best protection against cholera is to avoid food and water that may
be contaminated
2.Allergies-
Tell your doctor if you are have ever had any unusual or allergic reaction to
cholera vaccine. Also tell your healthcare care professional if you are allergic
to any other substances such as foods. preservatives or dyes.
3.Pregnancy-
Studies have not been done in humans or animals
4. Breast-feeding-
This vaccine has not been reported to cause problems in nursing babies
5.Children-
Cholera vaccine is not recommended for infants up to 6 months of age
6.Older adults-
Many medicines have not been studied specifically in older people. Therefore,
it may not be known whether they work exactly the same way they do in
younger adults, or if they cause different side effects or problems in older people.
There is no specific information comparing use of cholera vaccine in the elderly .
7. Other medicines-
Although certain medicines should not be used together at all, in other cases two
different medicines may be used together even if an interaction might occur.
In such cases your doctor may want to change the dose, or other precautions
may be necessary.
Tell your doctor if you are using any other prescription or non-prescription
(Over-the counter) OTC medicine.
8. Other medical problems-
The presence of other medical problems may affect the use of cholera vaccine.
Make sure you tell your doctor if you have any other medical problems
especially-
Severe illness with fever- the symptoms of this condition may be confused with
the side effects of the vaccine
