Adequate non-hormonal contraceptive measures must be taken during and for 1 month after therapy.

Special precautions

Administer within 7 days of start of normal menstruation in women of child bearing age. Perform liver function tests & blood counts before & every 2 weeks during high dose therapy of Hydatid disease. Neonates.

Adults and children above 2 years- 400mg as a single dose

Strongyloidiasis- 400mg once daily for 3 consecutive days

Albendazole

1. Albendazole is best taken with meals especially with food containing fat, to help the body absorb the medicine better.

2. Tablets may be chewed, swallowed whole with a small amount of liquid, or crushed and mixed with food.

3. Take this medicine exactly as directed by your doctor for the full time of treatment.

4. Dose of albendenzole will be different for different patients. Follow your doctors advice.

5. Tell your doctor if you ever had any unusual or allergic reaction to albendazole.

6. Pregnancy - Albendazole has not been studied in pregnant women. Before taking this medicine, make sure your doctor knows if you pregnant or if you become pregnant.

7. Breast feeding - Mothers who are taking this medicine and who wish to breast-feed should discuss this with their doctor.

8. Children - No specific information available- Medicine not expected to cause different side effects or problem in children than in adults. However, check with your doctor before administering to children.

9.Other medical problems - Presence of liver disease may increase chances of side effects. Tell your doctor, if you are suffering from any liver disease. May have an increased chance for side effects.

10. Missed dose - If you miss a dose of this medicine, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing. Do not double doses.

11. Storage - Keep out of reach of children. Store away from heat and direct sunlight. Do not store in the bath room or near the kitchen sink. Heat or moisture may cause the medicine to break down.

12. Date Expired  medicine - Do not keep outdated medicine or medicine no longer needed. Be sure that discarded medicines are kept out of reach of children.
