Adverse Reaction:
Local reactions inculding pain at the injection site and phloebitis
Others - skin rash, diarhoea, nausea and vomiting, colitis
Contra-Indications:
Hypersensitivity to cefotaxime
Special precations-
Previous hypersensitivity to penicillns or other drugs
Patients with renal insufficency
History of GI disease , esp colitis
Dosages/ Overdosage Etc:
Indication-
Genito-urinary tract infection
Lower respiratory tract infection
Dosage-
Mild to moderate infection- 1/0.5 g to 2/1 g of cefotaxime /sulbactum every 8-12 hours
Moderate to severe infections-
1/0.5g to 2/1 g of cefotaximine/sulbactum every 6-8 hours
Child- 100/50 mg to 150/75mg of cefotaxime/sulbactum kg/day in 3 divided doses
Life threatening infection- dose of cefotaxime may be increased up to 12g/day
Max dose - sulbactum
Adult- 4g
Child 80mg/.kg in divided doses

Pharmacology
The anti bacterial component of cefotaxine /sulbactum is cefotaxime, a third genneration antibiotic. Cefotaxime is a bacterial drug which inhibits the bacterial wall synthesis of the active;y dividing cells by binding to one or more penicillin binding proteins
Pharmacokinetics
Pharmacokinetics of cefotaxime and sulbactum have been reported to be unchanged and similar when administered alone or in combination.
