Indication:
Diagnosis of gastrinoma-
Diagnosis of pancreatic dysfunction-
ECRP- endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography-
Adverse Reaction:
Adverse reactions-
Cardiovascular - decreased blood pressure, bradycardia,
CNS - headache, lightheadedness, numbness, possible seizure
Dermatologic - abdominal rash, diaphoresis , flushing, pallor, urticaria
GI - abdominal cramps, abdominal discomfort, burning in stomach, diarrhea, nausea,
vomiting
Respiratory- transient low O2 saturation, transitory respiratory distress
Miscellaneous - bleeding, faigue, fever, hot sensation,
Contra-Indications:
Do not administer secretin to patients with acute pancreatitis until the acute episode has subsided
Special Precautions/Warnings-
Hypersensitivity reactions- Give IV test dose of 0.2mcg ( 0.1ml ) . If no allergic reaction is noticed after 1 minute, the recommended dose for the specific indication may be injected over a period of 1 minute
Special risk - patients who have undergone vagotomy,are receiving anticholinergic agents at the time of secretin stimulation testing or who have infalmmatory bowel disease may be
hyporesponsive to secretin stimulation.This response does not indicate pancreatic disease
Pregnancy- give secretin to a pregnant women only if clearly needed.
Lactation- excercise caution when secretin is administered to a breast feeding women
Children - safety and effectiveness in children have not been established

Adults - 0.4mcg/kg body weight by intravenous IV injection over 1 minute
Diagnosis of pancreatic dysfunction-
0.2mcg/kg body weight by IV injection over 1 minute
ECRP- endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography-
0.2mcg/kg body weight by IV injection over 1 minute
Storage-
Store at -20C ( -4F ). the unconstituted product should be stored in a freezer.
Use immediately after reconstitution. Protect synthetic human secretin from light.

1. Because there are no data on pregnant or breast-feeding mothers discuss these matters
with the patient before using this product
