Nondepolarising relaxants - 
action augmented by enflurane

Anesthesia

Cardiovascular -     hypotension, arrhythmias

CNS-  shivering motor activity exemplified by movements of various groups or seizures
           may be encountered with deep levels of enflurane

GI -     nausea and vomiting

Hematologic-   elevation of whole blood count

Hepatic -    mild , moderate and severe liver injury may rarely follow anesthesia
                    serum transaminase increased

Seizure disorders, sensitivity to Enflurane or other halogenated anesthetics

Special Precautions-

Depth of anesthesia - deep levels of anesthesia may produce marked hypotension and respiratory
depression

Special risk - enflurance should be used with caution in patients who by virtue of medical
or drug history could be considered more suseptible to cortical stimulation produced by
enflurane

Pregnancy- This drug should  be used during pregnancy only if clearly needed

Lactation- Caution to be excercised when enflurane is administered to a nursing woman

Monitoring- There is some elevation of glucose and white blood count intraoperatively.
Glucose elevation should be considered in diabetic patients
 

Indication-
Anesthesia

Dosage-
Analgesia - enflurane 0.25% to 1% provides general anagesia for vaginal delivery equal to that
produced by 30 to 60% nitrous oxide. These concentrations do not normally produce amnesia

Cesarian  section- enfulrane should ordinarily be administered in the concentration range of
0.5 to 1% supplement other general anesthetics

1. Enflurane as well as other general anesthetics may cause a slight decrease in intellectual
    function for 2 to 3 days folowing anesthesia

2. As with other anesthetics small changes in mood changes and symptoms may persist
    for seveal days following administration.

Pregnancy-
This drug should  be used during pregnancy only if clearly needed

Lactation-
Caution to be excercised when enflurane is administered to a nursing woman
