Dosage-
Maximum dose - pioglitazone 45mg/glimepiride 8mg per day.
Elderly- initial dose dosing, dose increments and maintenance dose should be conservative to
avoid hypoglycemic reactions. The initial dose should be started at glimepride 1mg prior to
prescribing pioglitazone/glimepride.
Renal function impairment- the initial starting dose at glimepride 1mg prior to prescribing
pioglitazone/glimepride,.
Hepatic function impairment- the dose dose should be started at glimepride 1mg prior to
prescribing pioglitazone/glimepride,
Debilated /malnourished patients.- the initial starting dose at glimepride 1mg prior to prescribing
pioglitazone/glimepride,.
Congestive heart failure and hypertension- the lowest approved dose of pioglitazone/glimepride
therapy should be prescribed
Administration- once daily with the first meal of the day
