Adverse Reaction:
Hypersensitivity, pseudomembranous colitis.
Darrhoea, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain,
Headache, dizziness, genital pruritus, vaginitis,
Mild and reversible leukopenia
Thrombocytopenia and eosinophillia.
Mild elevations of serum amylase.
Contra-Indications:
Hypersensitivity to cephalosporin,pseudomembranous colitis.
Special precautions:
History of allergy to penicillins, pregnancy and lactation.
Severe renal failure,gastrointestinal disease, especially colitis.
Dosages/ Overdosage Etc:
Indications:
Uncomplicated urinary tract infections caused by E.Coli and P.Mirabilis, otitis media, pharyngitis, acute bronchitis, in complicated gonorrhoea.
Dosage:
Adults- 400mg/day as a single dose or as 200mg, 2 times a day.
Children less than 12 years - 8mg/kg/day suspension as a single dose or 4mg/kg/day every 12 hours..
