Drug Interaction:
Beta-adrenergic blockers include- Atenolol, Acebutol, Betaxolol, Bisoprolol,Cartelol,Esmolol, Labetatol,Metoprolol, Nadolol,Penbutolol, Pinodol, Propranolol, Solatol, Timolol, Refer - Atenolol
Marked hypertension and bradycardia with adrenaline.
Potentiation of bradycardia with anaethestics.
Rebound hypertension with clonidine enhanced.
Masks signs of hypoglycaemia in diabetes and hypertension associated with hypoglycaemia is prolonged.
Absorption by food.
Hypotensive action may be reduced by indomethicin.
Inhibits tachycardia produced by vasodilators (hydrazine and minoxidil).

Adverse Reaction:
Sudden withdrawal in patients with IHD may worsen the condition. Heart failure, heart block, brochospasm.
Fatigue, coldness of extremities, parathesisas, GI symptoms, skin rash, alopecia, dryness of eye, blurred vision, thrombocytopenia.
Opthalmic use: Occular irritation, blepharitis, keratitis, decreased corneal sensitivity, visual disturbances, diplopia and ptosis. Systemic absorption withsystemic effect may occur.
Contra-Indications:
Hypersens to ingredients,heart block (second/third degree).
Special precautions:
Due to systemic absorption, side effects associated with beta-blockers may occur. Caution in patients with COPD or CHF. Safety in children & pregnant women not established. Hypoglycaemia.
Dosages/ Overdosage Etc:
Indications: Hypertension, Myocardial infaction, Migraine prophylaxis.
Dosage: Initial- 10 mg twice daily. Used alone or with a diuretic. Maintenance dose- 20 to 40 mg/day. Titrate depending on blood pressure and heart rate.

Pharmacology-
Timilol, levobunolol, cartelol, and metipranol are non-cardio-selective (B1 and B2)
Beta blockers, Betaxolol, is a cardioselective B1 Beta blocker. Topical Beta-blockers
do not have significant membrane stabilizing (local- anesthetic actions or intrinsic
sympathomimetic activity. They reduce the elevated and normal IOP, with or without
glaucoma
