PIPERAZINE - systemic
1.Allergies-
Tell your doctor if you have ever had any unusual or allergic reaction to
piperazine or ethylenediamine. Also tell your healthcare care professional
if you are allergic to any other substances such as foods. preservatives or dyes.
2.Pregnancy-
Piperazine has not been studied in pregnant women. Before taking piperazine
make sure that your doctor knows that you are pregnant or if you may become
pregnant.
3. Breast-feeding-.
Although it is not known whether piperazine passes into breast milk., piperazine
has not been reported to cause problems to nursing babies.
4.Children-
Children may be especially sensitive to the effects of piperazine. This may
increase the chance of side effects during treatment.
5.Older adults-
There is no specific information comparing use of piperazine in the elderly with use
in other age groups
6. Other medicines-
Tell your doctor if you are using any of the following medicines-
Phenothiazine- taking piperazine and phenothiazine together may increase the risk
of convulsions
Pyrantel - taking pyrantel may decrease the effect of piperazine
7. Other medical problems-
Make sure you tell your doctor if you have any other medical problems
especially-
Kidney disease or
Liver disease - patients with kidney or liver disease may have an increased
chance of side effects
Seizure disorders- piperazine may make the condition worse.
