Drug Interaction:
Skeletal Muscle Relaxant include-
Carisprodal, Chlorphenesin Maleate, Chlorzoxazone, Chlormezanone, Cyclobenzaprine, Methocarbinol, Metaxalone, Dantrolenes Sodium, Orphenadrine.

CNS effects enhanced by other CNS depressants such as alcohol.
Indication:
Painful musculo-skeletal conditions

Adverse Reaction:
The drug is well tolerated and seldom produces undesirable adverse reactions
GI- GI disturbances, GI bleeding( rare)
CNS- Drowsiness, dizziness, lightheadedness,malaise, overstimulation
Dermatologic- Allergic0type skin rashes, petechiae, ecchymose( rare)
Hypersensitivity- Angioneurotic edema, anaphylaxis(very rare)
Hepatic- Chloroxazone was suspected of causing liver damage in some patients. The clinical picture was compatiible with eiither a viral or drug induced hepatitis. Inmost cases the patients recovered when the drug was stopped.
Miscellaneous- Urine discoloration. Drowsiness, dizziness, lightheadedness. GI disturbances, head-ache, excitement, restlessness, irritability sensitivity reactions(skin rash).
Rarely angioedema or anaphylactoid reactions may occur. Jaundice,liver damage reported.
Contra-Indications:
Intolerance to Chloroxazone Special precautions: Concomittant use of alcohol and CNS depressants,pregnancy, known allergies.
Warning-
Hypersensitivity- Use with caution in patients with known allergies or a history ofallergic drug reactions. If a sensitivity reaction occurs as urticaria, redness or itching, discontinue use.
Pregnancy- Safety for use has not been established. Use only when clearly needed and when the potential benefits outweigh the potential hazards.
Precautions- Hepatic effects-If signs or symptoms of liver dysfunction are observed, discontinue use.
Hazardous tasks- May produce drowsiness or dizziness, patients should observe caution while driving or performing other tasks requiring coordination or physical dexterity
Dosages/ Overdosage Etc:
Indications:
Painful musculoskeletal conditions
Dosage:
Adults- 250mg 3 or 4 times daily. Severe cases- 500mg .
Children- 125mg/ 3 or 4 times daily.
Overdosage
Symptoms
Initialy nausea, vomiting or diarrhea together with drowsiness, dizziness, lightheadedness, or headache, may occur. Ealier in the course there may be malaise or sluggishness followed by marked loss of muscle tone, making movement impossible. Deep tendon reflexes may be decreased or absent. Respiratory depressin may occur with rapid ,irregular respiration and intercostal and substernal retraction. Blood pressure is lowered ,but shock has not been observed.
Treatment
1. Treatment is supportive
2. Cholinergic drugs or analeptic drugs are of no value and should not be used.
Missed dose
1. If you miss a dose of this medicine, take it as soon as possible.
2. However, if it is almost time for next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule.
3. Do not double doses.

1.Take with food or water if GI upset occurs.
2. Notify physician of rash or itching.
3.May cause drowsiness, dizziness or lightheadedness. Observe caution while driving or performing tasks requiring alertness or dexterity.
4. Avoid alcohol and CNS depressants.
5. Medication may discolor urine orange or purple-red.
