Pregnancy and lactation
Drug Interaction:
Cyclosorine- Coadministration with cyclosporine slightly increased the steady-state AUC of anidulafungin by 22%
Indication:
Adverse Reaction:
Hypersensitivity- Possible histamine mediated ymptoms have been reported with antidulafingin including, flushing,hypotension,pruritis, rash and urticaria.
These reactions are infrequent when the rate of anidulafungin infusion does not exceed 1.1mg/min
Candidemia/other Canida infections- The following reactions ocurred in less than 2% of patients treated for candiderma/other infections in less than 1% of the patients treated for esophageal candidiasis and were judged by investigators to be at least possibly related to antidualafungin
Cardiovascular- Atrial fibrillation, bundle branch block.(right) electrocardiogram, early transition, electrocardiogram QT prolonged, flushing, hot flushes, hypertension,hypotension,sinus arrhythmia, thrombophebitis superficial, ventricular extrasystoles
CNS- Convulsions, dizziness, headache
Dermatologic- Angioneurotic edema, erythemia, pruritus, pruritus generalized, sweating increased, urticaria
GI- Abdominal pain upper, constipation, diarrhea, dyspepsia, fecal incontinence, nausea, vomiting
Haematologic/Lymphatic- Coagulalopathy, thrombocytopenia
Hepatic- Abnormal liver function tests,cholestaotasis, hepatic necrosis
Metabolic/Nutrional- Hypercalcemia, hyperglycemia, hyperkalemia, hypernatremia, hypomagnesmia
Musculoskeletal- Back pain, rigors
Ophthalmic- Eye pain,vision blurred, visual disturbances
Miscellaneous- Candisiasis, clostridial infection, cough, fungemia, infusion-relared reactions,oral candiadiasis, peripheral edema
Lab test abnormalities- Amylase increased, bilirubin increased, creatine phosphokinase increased, creatinine increased, gamma glutamyl transferase increased, lipase increased, magnesium decreased, platelet count decreased, platelet countecreased increased, potassium decreased, prothrombin time prolonged, urea increased
Contra-Indications:
Contraindications- Known hyperssensitivity to anidulafungin, to any of its components, or to other echinocandins
Warnings/Precautions- Hepatic effects- Laboratory abnormalities in liver function tests have been seen in healthy volunteers and patients with anidulfulgin
Monitor patients who develop abnormal liver function tests during anidulafungin therapy for evidence of worsening of hepatic function and avaluate risk/benefit of continuing anidulafungin therapy
Pregnancy- There are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. Because animal reproduction studies are not always predictive of human response, use anidulafungin during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the risk to the uterus.
Lactation- Administer to breast-feeding mothers only if the potential benefit justifies the rifsk.Anidulafungin was found in the milk of lactating rats. It is not known whether Anidulafungin is excreted in human milk
Children- Safety and efectiveness of anidulafungin in children have not been established Monitoring- Monitor patients who develop abnormal liver function tests during Anidulafungin therapy for evidence of worsening hepatic failure

Patient Information:
Advise patients that this medicine only works against fungus, it does not treat viral infections eg.common cold
Be sure to tell patients to use this medicine for full course of treatment. If they do not this medicine may not clear up the infection completely
Instruct patients to notify their healthcare provider if any of the following common adverse reactions persist or become bothersome; diarrhea,headache, pain,swelling,or redness at the injection site.
Instruct patients to seek medical attention right away if any of the following severe adverse reactions occur, severe allerlgic reactions-( rash,hives,itching, difficulty breathing, tightness in the chest,swelling of the mouth,face,lips,tounge,unusual hoarness), dark urine,fever, chills,or persistent sore , irregular heartbeat, leg redness,swelling or pain,pale stools,seizures,severe or persistent stomach pain,shotness of breath,unsual brusing or bleeding, yellowing of the skin or eyes
