Symptomatic relief of pain.

Acute renal failure. G.I.disturbances, headache, rashes, liver function abnormalities, haemolytic anaemia, methaeglobulinanaemia, discoloration of urine and other body fluids, staining of contact lens.

Impaired renal function.

Special precautions: Liver dysfunction,avoid prolonged therapy.

Indications: Symptomatic relief of pain, Burning, urgency, frequency, and other discomfort of urinary tract.

Dosage: Adults-200mg 3 times a day after meals. Administration should not exceed 3 days.. Children (6 to 12 years)- 12mg/kg/24 hour in 3 divided doses. for 2 days.

Pharmacology: Phenazopyridine, an azo dye, is excreted in the urine where it exerts a topical analgesic effect on urinary tract mucosa; therefore use only for relief of symptoms. Its mechanism of action is unknown. Phenazopyridine is compatible with antibacterial therapy and can help relieve pain and discomfort before antibacterial therapy controls infection.
