Sulponamides +
Sulfonylureas- hypoglycemic effect of the sulfonylureas enhanced due to various mechanisms ( eg decreased hepatic metabolism, inhibition of renal excretion, displacement from protein binding sites,decreased blood glucose or alteration of carbohydrate metabolism
Indication:
Conjutivitis, corneal ulcer and superficial ocular infections.
Adverse Reaction:
Stevens-Johnson syndrome. Agranulocytosis, thrombocytopenia, jaundice in new born. Nausea, vomiting, anorexia and diarrhoea.
Hypersensitivity skin reaction. Lumbar pain, Haematuria, oliguria, anuria, crystallisation in urine,
Thrombocytopenia, leucopenia, eosinophilia, Neonatal jaundice and kernicterus, Interferes with estimation of urinary glucose,urobilinogen,urea and creatinine.
Topical appln to eye: Burning and stinging. Systemic absorption from inflammed conjunctiva.
Contra-Indications:
Hypersens, severe renal/hepatic impairment, blood dyscrasias, porphyrias, infants below 2 mths, lactation.
Special preracutions:
Elderly, adequate fluid intake, G6PD deficiency, AIDS, Pregnancy.
Dosages/ Overdosage Etc:
Indications:
Conjutivitis, corneal ulcer and superficial ocular infections.
Dosage:
10% solution - Instill 1 to 3 drops into lower conjuntival sac every 2 or 3 hours.
Patient Information:
1.For external use only. If irritation occurs or continues, or if rash develops,discontinue use and notify physician.
2. Discontinue promptly if arthiritis, fever or mouth sores develop.

Has bacteriostastic effect against gram-positive and gram negative micro-organisms commonly isolated from secondary cutaneous pyogenic infections.
