Immunosupressants- Patients receiving other immunosuppressants should not receive concurrent therapy with Alfacept because of the possibility of ecxessive immunosuppression

ALFACEPT - Immunosuppressiives

Powder for Injection   lyophilized     12.5mg  sucrose presrvative free in dose pack 1s and                                                                            4s

INDICATION-

Plaque posoriasis- treatment of adult apatients with moderatte to severe chronic plaque psoriasis who are andidates for systemic therapy or phototherapy

Recommended dose-

The recommende dosage of alfacept is 15mg given onceweekly intramuscular (IM injectioin. Therecommended regimen is is acourse of 12 weekly injection. 

Retreatment with additonal 12 week course  may be initiated provide that CD4 + T lymphocytes countsare within normal range  and a minimum of a 12 week interval has been passed  since the previous course of treatment

Contraindication

Do not administer to patients infected with HIV. Alfacept reduces CD4 +T lymphocytes count which might accelrate disease progression otr increase complications of the disease to the patients

Patient Information-

Inform patients fo regular monitoring of whiteblod cell count( lymphcytes)  ciunts  during therapy and that Alfacept must be administerd under thesupervision of health care provider.

Also advice female patients  to notify their health care provider if they become pregnant  whle taking Alefacept

Advice patients that serioys liver injury has been reported in patienbts receiving Alfacept. Advice patients to teport to the halth care provider persistent nausea, anorexia, farigue, vomitting, abdominal pain, jaundice, easy brusing, dark urine or pale stools.
