Indication Type Description:
Drug Interaction:
Anthraquinone laxatives may discolour urine and thus interfere with diagnostic tests.
Adverse Reaction:
Mild abdominal discomfort(colic,cramps).
Prolonged use or overdosage can cause diarrhoea, dehydration,depletion of electrolytes(esp potassium) atonic non-functional colon.
Habit forming.
Contra-Indications:
Intestinal obstruction,undiagnosed abdominal symptoms.
Special precautions:
Inflammatory bowel diaeases,lactation,avoid prolonged use.
