Cefaperazone +
Anticoagulants incr Hypoprothrombinemic effects of anticoagulants -increased by cephalosporins with the methyltetrazolethiol side chain (cefamandole, cefoperazone, cefotetan, moxalactum). Bleeding complications may occur. The concurrent use of heparin increase the risk of bleeding.
Ethanol incr Alcoholic beverages consumed concurrently with or upto 72 hours after cefamandole, cefaperazone,moxalactum, or cefotetan produce acute alcohol intolerance(disulfram-like reaction). The reaction begins within 30 minutes after alcohol ingestion Reaction may occur up to 3 days after the last dose of the antibiotic

Anticoagulants incr Hypoprothrombinemic effects of anticoagulants may be increased by cephalosporins with the methyltetrazolethiol side chain (cefamandole, cefoperazone, cefotetan, moxalactum). Bleeding complications may occur. The concurrent use of heparin may also theoritically increase the risk of bleeding.
Ethanol incr Alcoholic beverages consumed concurrently with or upto 72 hours after cefamandole, cefaperazone,moxalactum, or cefotetan may produce acute alcohol intolerance(disulfram-like reaction). These four antibiotics possess a methyltetrazolethiol side chain that may inhibit aldehyde dehydrogenase .
The reaction begins within 30 minutes after alcohol ingestion and may subside 30 minutes to several hours afterwards, the reaction may occur up to 3 days after the last dose of the antibiotic
Enhances nephrotoxicity by amino glycosides. Frusemide enhances nephrotoxicity. Disulfram-like reaction with alcohol. Potentiates anticoagulants.
Indication:
Respiratory tract infections, peritonitis, and other intra-abdominal infections, bacterial epticaemia, skin and skin structure infections, pelvic inflammatory disease,endometritis, and other infections of female genital tract.

Adverse Reaction:
Anaphylactic reaction. Skin rash, fever, urticaria, eosinophilia, diarrhoea. Reversible neutropenia with prolonged admin. Hypoprothrombinaemia, superinfection.
Contra-Indications:
Hypersens to cephalosporine, penicillins
Special precautions: Infants less than 1 month,concomittant alcohol, impaired renal function, pregnancy and lactation.

Dosage: Administer IM or IV. Adult- 2 to 4g/day administered in equally divided dose every 12 hours. Severe infections dosages increased to 6 to 12g divided in 2,3 or 4 administration.
