Adverse Reaction:
Very rare Mazzoti reaction,starts within 2 hrs of drug admin. Characterised by rash, itching, headache, muscle and joint pains, tachycardia, postural hypotension. Encpheliltis and retinal haemorrhage. Fever, headache, nausea, chills.
Contra-Indications:
Pregnancy.:
Lactation Special precautions: Transcient headache, dizziness, malaise in some patients.
Treat symptoms such as fever, urticaria, fall in blood pressure with antihistamines or corticisteroids depending on severity, renal impairment.
Dosages/ Overdosage Etc:
Indications:
Bancrofts filariasis, onchoceriasis, ascriasis, topical eosinophilia, loiasis.
Dosage:
2mg/kg 3 times a day, immediately following meals.

Diethylcarbazine- Systemic
1.Allergies-
Tell your doctor if you have ever had any unusual or allergic reaction to
diethylcarbazine. Also tell your healthcare care professional if you are
allergic to any other substances such as foods. preservatives or dyes.
2.Pregnancy-
Treatment of pregnant patients with diethylcabazine should be delayed until
after delivery. However, diethylcabazine has not been shown to cause birth
defects or other problems in humans
3. Breast-feeding-
It is not known whether diethylcarbazine passes into breast milk. Although most
medicines pass into breast milk in small amounts,many of them may be used
safely while breast-feeding.Mothers who are taking this medicine and who wish
to breast feed should discuss this with their doctor.
4.Children-
Although there is no specific information comparing use of diethylcabazine
in children with use in other age groups this medicine is not expected to cause
different side effects or problems than it does in adults.
5.Older adults-
Many medicines have not been studied specifically in older people. Therefore,
it may not be known whether they work exactly the same way they do in
younger adults, or if they cause different side effects or problems in older people.
There is no specific information comparing use of diethylcarbazine in the elderly
with use in other age groups
6. Other medicines-
Although certain medicines should not be used together at all, in other cases two
different medicines may be used together even if an interaction might occur.
In such cases your doctor may want to change the dose, or other precautions
may be necessary.
Tell your doctor if you are using any other prescription or non-prescription
(Over-the counter) OTC medicine.
