Adverse Reaction:
Dry mouth headache asthenia dizziness sleep disturbances
vertigo g-i upset vasodilation sedation back pain
rash pruritus anxiety
rarely skin reaction angioedema
Contra-Indications:
Angioneurotic oedema sick sinus syndrome
SA block 2nd and 3rd degree AV block
malignant arrhythmias severe bradycardia < 50bpm
severe heart failure coronary heart disease
hepatic or severe renal impairment
CrCl < 30ml/mm
Pegnancy lactation elderly over 75 years
Special precautions-
moderate renal impairment CrCl 30-60ml/min
Reynonds disease parkinsons disease,
epilepsy glaucoma depression
1st degree AV block unstable angina
moderate herat failure
withdraw gradually if stopping therapy after use with bdetablocker a few days before hand
intermittant claduication
galactose intolerence
Lapp tactase malabsorption
Dosages/ Overdosage Etc:
Indication-
Mild to moderate hypertension
Dosage-
initially 200mcg in the morning
increase if necessary after 2-3 weeks to 400mcg daily in divided doses
Elderly reduce dose
Renal impairment - maximum 200mcg per dose
max daily 400mcg
Patients below 18 years not recommended
Pregnancy and lactation:
Use contraindicated.
